Hey! My 6/22 list didn't post - stupid blogger. Here is my best memory of what I wrote.

Mediocre music movies from the 1970s that are worth looking up

1. Phantom of the Paradise
2. Bugsy Malone
3. The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh
4. Sgt. Pepper's Lonley Hearts Club Band
5. Roller Boogie
6. Rock and Roll High School
7. FM
8. Car Wash
9. Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park

The first two movies, early works by Brian DePalma and Alan Parker, might be weird, but they are Oscar-nominated weirdness thanks to the great Paul Williams who also stars in the first movie.

  2. I agree that they are classics but small c classics.

Although I loves me some ELO there are two problems with including Xanadu here. First, I've never seen it. By the time it came out, disco was dead and it was discoy enough I would have been beaten up in high school had I seen it. Second, it was released in the summer of 1980 so it would have to be on another list. There are enough mediocre music movies from the 80s that maybe I should watch it and start that list.
